Kingfisher FM off air - Press Release
Radio Kingfisher hereby informs the community, sponsors, advertisers and supporters of Nelson Mandela Bay that we have ceased to broadcast in accordance with Section 19 of the EGA Act.
A late application for licence renewal has resulted in ICASA not being able to process the application and subsequently a notice has been issued to Radio Kingfisher to end broadcasting.
Ongoing negotiations and legal intervention has been and is currently underway.
On Tuesday 28 January 2020 ICASA proceeded with the instruction to compel Radio Kingfisher to cease broadcasting.
For many years the station has been a beacon of light and hope for the greater community of Nelson Mandela Bay. Many families and individuals have had input into the station over the past 24 years.
Radio Kingfisher remains eternally grateful for the support of each community member who has supported or tuned in over the years. We thank you for the privilege of serving you. The Radio Kingfisher board is currently in the process of consultation regarding the broadcast licence.
