The Africa Evangelistic Band or the AEB was established in 1924 as the outcome of Evangelistic work carried on in South Africa by Miss Helena Garratt. Although affiliated to the Faith Mission of Scotland, the AEB is a South African organisation, entirely autonomous, and is legally incorporated under the Companies Act No. 46 of 1926. It is inter-denominational and non-sectarian, its workers being drawn from the various Protestant Evangelical churches.

As the name implies, the aim of the AEB is evangelisation.

Faith in God is the main principle of the Band - absolute dependence upon Him for everything necessary to its successful working; faith that He will send forth the right workers into the harvest field; that He will provide for all their needs of those sent forth.

The AEB has no doctrinal eccentricities. It holds to the orthodox, fundamental teachings of the Evangelical churches. The object of the workers is to preach “Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1Cor 2:2), Who saves “His people from their sins” (Matt 1:21), and “baptizeth with the Holy Ghost” (John 1:33).
